Glamorous starry night pudding cake

One of the most famous paintings in modern painting is probably the Starry Night by the Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh. A copy of this melancholy masterpiece hangs in numerous apartments. During his lifetime, Van Gogh was rather a poor and unsuccessful artist, which is why he is posthumously celebrated by the world. We were inspired by his masterpiece and prepared a starry night pudding cake that looks at least as pretty as the painted original. And of course it tastes good too!

For this you need (for 5 to 6 servings):

For the pudding:

  • 700 g white chocolate, chopped
  • 800 ml of cream
  • 100 g of sugar
  • 200 g egg yolks
  • 12 sheets of gelatin, soaked
  • blue food coloring
  • yellow food coloring

Also:

  • Star cookie cutter in 2 sizes
  • 2 hemispherical metal bowls (diameter: 20 and 10 cm)
  • white chocolate, melted (for decoration)
  • blue food coloring (for decoration)
  • yellow food coloring (for decoration)
  • Toast as a sponge

That is how it goes:

1. Beat the egg yolks with the sugar until creamy and also soak the gelatine in cold water. Heat the cream to about 60-70 ° C and let the white chocolate melt in it. Squeeze out the gelatin and add it to the chocolate-cream mixture. Mix everything together well. Then carefully stir the chocolate-cream mixture into the egg-sugar mixture. Now the pudding is ready.

2. Divide the mass and color 1/3 with yellow and 2/3 with blue food coloring.

3. Grease a small baking sheet, pour some yellow pudding on it and let it set. Cut stars in two sizes from the hardened pudding.

4. Rinse the larger of the two metal bowls with cold water and press the pierced stars onto the inner wall.

5. Now pour the blue pudding halfway into the mold. (If the pudding has become too firm, you can briefly heat it up in the microwave, then it will become liquid again.) Now press the small metal bowl in the middle and place this “construction” in the refrigerator until it has set.

6. Then remove the small bowl and pour yellow pudding into the well. Put everything back in the fridge to set. Finally, add the remaining blue pudding to the bowl and refrigerate everything for at least 4 hours.

7. Turn the pudding cake onto a plate. If you want to remove the pudding from the mold, it is best to use a hairdryer or a bath in warm water. This will make the pudding dissolve more easily.

8. Melt white chocolate and divide it into three bowls. Color part 1 blue and part 2 yellow. You leave the third part white. Pluck a slice of toast into pieces and use them as a sponge. Dip the sponge in the melted chocolate and use it to decorate the pudding cake.

A culinary masterpiece that just visually invites you to dream. This starry night pudding cake is perfect for anyone who likes pudding and is into modern painting.
