Chocolate cake with strawberry cream that looks like a flamingo

Chocolate cake is simply part of a classic coffee party. But the delicious dough always looks the same: browned from the oven and sometimes garnished with powdered sugar or crumble. For a change, how about a pink chocolate cake with a fruity surprise hidden in the middle?

For this you need:

For the chocolate cake:

  • 250 g butter
  • 200 g of sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla flavor
  • 4 eggs
  • 85 grams of flour
  • 70 g cocoa
  • 125 g starch
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder

For the filling:

  • 400 ml ready-made strawberry cream

For the frosting:

  • 300 ml of cream
  • 250 g natural cream cheese
  • 40 g of sugar
  • 4 tbsp strawberry jam
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla flavor

For the flamingo:

  • 200 g white couverture
  • pink food coloring
  • 50 g dark chocolate couverture

That is how it goes:

1.) First, put all the ingredients for the chocolate cake in a bowl and stir them into a creamy batter. Then bake the cake in a mold (20 cm diameter) for 35 minutes at 160 ° C in fan-assisted mode. Then let it cool down completely.

2.) Now cut the cake horizontally in half. Then hollow out the lower part with a spoon; but leave an edge about an inch wide.

3.) Now you distribute the finished strawberry cream in the cake pan and put the “cake topper” on top so that nothing can be seen of the filling. Then place the cake in the fridge in the fridge.

4.) While the cake is being cooled, you can dedicate yourself to the frosting: Put all the ingredients for it in a bowl and stir them into a creamy mass.

5.) Now take a platter or a large plate to arrange your cake. Place a large blob of the frosting in the middle of the plate, place the filled chocolate cake on top and press it down lightly so that the frosting mass is evenly distributed under the cake. Now brush the rest of the cake with the pink frosting.

6.) To give the chocolate cake a flamingo look, you must first melt the couverture. Then use it to draw the shapes of the bird on baking paper and wait until the couverture has cooled down and hardened – alternatively, you can of course also opt for a different design.

7.) Now decorate the cake with the chocolate so that it looks like a flamingo.

It only takes a few more steps to turn an ordinary chocolate cake into a real eye-catcher with a fruity filling – let your cake melt in your mouth with relish.
